The local Harrietville pilot provided the opportunity to work with key representatives from the community and organisations whilst drawing from research, recommendations and inspiration from a range of projects from within and outside the sector.
A locally tailored and facilitated approach founded on a philosophy of established community development principles including; local ownership, recognition of local life ways, values or culture and recognition of local knowledge in developing any effective local plans and activities was developed.
The result included a local collaborative process and community based plan to be implemented and continually improved by the local community and supporting organisations.
This collaborative approach and 5 step process is now being further piloted with a range of communities in different local settings. Key findings will support the development of the community based framework for the future.
