The new Victorian Emergency Services Memorial, which will pay tribute to those who have lost their lives while protecting Victorian communities, will be established at Treasury Gardens.
The Victorian Government announced the location of memorial this week.
The memorial will honour CFA, VICSES, MFB, Forest Fire Management Victoria, Ambulance Victoria and Life Saving Victoria personnel.
The development, design and build of the memorial has included feedback from families and brigades of firefighters recognised on the memorial at Fiskville.
Emergency Management Commissioner Craig Lapsley said the memorial was a tribute those who protected Victorian communities in their time of need.
“The Victorian Emergency Services Memorial will provide a permanent place to recognise the sacrifices our personnel make to protect the community and the environment.”
City of Melbourne Acting Lord Mayor Arron Wood said first responders sacrifice so much for the safety, health and wellbeing of society, their jobs being incredibly difficult.
“It gives me great pleasure to recognise and honour our emergency servicemen and women with this respectful memorial at this peaceful location,” he said.
The concept design for the memorial is scheduled to go to council’s Future Melbourne Committee in early April, with installation expected to be finalised in 2019.
