Coroners Court of Victoria
The Coroners Court of Victoria (CCOV) is established under the Coroners Act 2008 to independently investigate when, where, how and why an unexpected death occurred and identify opportunities to prevent similar deaths from occurring in the future. In times of emergency, CCOV is a member agency of the State Disaster Victim Identification Committee. A coroner is responsible for the identification of deceased, and coordination of family support where ante mortem interviews are required to establish the identity of the deceased. CCOV works closely with VIFM and VicPol in times of emergency.
